MIDI Noodle · Chord Sequencer
Chords for synths that only play notes.
Pick a progression, pick a rhythm, and the Chord Sequencer plays it on any synth you've cabled, in time with the rest of your gear.
Progressions as numbers in a key
Chords are written as degrees of a key, I–V–vi–IV rather than C–G–Am–F. Change the key and the whole progression moves with it.
Start from a preset (The Four-Chord Song, ii–V–I (Jazz), 12-Bar Blues, Andalusian, Lo-fi, Royal Road and more) or build your own. Each chord can have its own length, shape (7ths, sus, power chords) and inversion, with an optional bass note underneath.
A rhythm for every style
Rhythm presets set how the chords play: held Pad, Pop 8ths, House Stabs, Off-Beat (Reggae / Ska), Bossa Nova, Funk 16ths, Trance Gate and more.
Play modes go beyond Block chords to a Strum, rolled low to high, and arpeggios in the same shapes as the Arpeggiator: Up, Down, Up-down, Down-up, Outside in, Alberti, Skip and Random, each with its pattern icon. An arpeggio can Loop for the whole chord or play Once and let the notes ring.
Progression, rhythm and fill each have their own preset menu, so you can swap the groove without losing your chords. Presets you save are shared by every project.
Fills that lead into the next chord
Add a short melodic fill before a chord change: a Run, a Roll or an Approach from below. Place it on every chord, every other chord or only at the loop's end, at a rate from 1/8 to 1/32, with the chord held underneath or not.
Fills are worked out from the chords, not rolled at random, so a loop sounds the same every pass.
One key for the whole patch
The Chord Sequencer plays in the patch key set in the transport panel, unless you give it its own. Drag from its diamond to a Note Sequencer and the bass line follows the chord changes; drag it to a Key Lock and what you play stays on the chord.
Harmony cable
A dotted violet cable carries the chords, not MIDI, to whatever should follow them.
Patch key
Change the key once and every sequencer that follows it moves too.
